Assemblyman Vincent Prieto has the privilege of serving New Jersey's 32nd legislative district since 2004. He currently serves as the chairman of the General Assembly's Regulated Professions committee. He also serves the Transportation, Public Works, and Independent Authorities, as well as the Homeland Security and State Prepardness committees.
Vincent has established himself as a staunch advocate for our state's veterans by creating and supporting legislation designed to protect those who fought for our nation's freedoms. His tireless commitment to provide our veterans with the care they deserve has garnered accolades and praise from various state veterans groups.
Vincent's passion for New Jersey residents does not stop there.
Since he was sworn in, Vincent has fought for comprehensive consumer protection legislation. Under his chairmanship, the Regulated Professions committee has passed a countless number of bills that became law, ranging from the unscrupulous sale of concert tickets to providing the Department of Consumer Affairs more power to regulate and reprimand those practicing illicit business activities.
Vincent uses his knowledge as a former small business owner and a state certified construction and fire code official to generate feasible solutions for many state wide problems. Using his experiences, Vincent passed landmark legislation by establishing the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Board, allowing for the Department of Consumer Affairs to regulate a previously overlooked industry.
New Jersey has a true champion for it's citizens in Vincent Prieto.
Born on September 11, 1960 in Cuba, Vincent immigrated to the United States at the age of eleven, to Union City, NJ where he attended school. He currently makes his residence in Secaucus where he and his wife Marlene raised their two children. Vincent holds certifications in Construction Code Technology from Middlesex Community College and Fire Code Technology from Bergen Community College. He is the construction code official for the municipality of Secaucus.
